Our 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not happy with the course, email us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason. Your statutory cancellation rights. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/3134) you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance contract. The legal position

What British Law Actually Requires

Written plainly, with the source named so you can check it yourself.

The law

In Great Britain, workplace transport is covered by the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 (traffic routes). Lifting operations fall under LOLER 1998, and construction sites under the CDM Regulations 2015. HSE guidance: HSG136, A guide to workplace transport safety.

What the employer must do

  • Assess workplace transport risks
  • Separate pedestrians and vehicles where possible
  • Plan reversing and provide trained banksmen where needed
  • Provide high-visibility clothing and agreed signals

The banksman’s job

  • Stand where the driver can see you and you are safe
  • Use clear, agreed signals
  • Keep other people out of the danger zone
  • Stop the movement if you lose sight of the driver

Site-specific instruction

This course covers the knowledge element. Every site should also brief banksmen on its own traffic plan, vehicles and signals.

Be clear about what this course is. It is online banksman awareness training. It supports — but does not replace — site-specific instruction on the traffic plan, vehicles and signals used where you work.
